Political Experience

Texas Policy Research | President

January 2024 to Current

Lead the organization’s strategic direction, operations, and mission as president of both the 501(c)(3) research initiative and the 501(c)(4) action arm. Work with the Board of Directors to set long-term goals; oversee fundraising, communications, and relationships with lawmakers, policy partners, and donors.

During the 89th Legislative Session (2025), the organization published free legislative digests on 10,000+ bills, comprehensive analyses on 4,000+ bills, issued Floor Reports with vote recommendations for every bill reaching the Texas House or Senate floor, and regularly engaged 75+ state lawmakers. Also launched the Texas Liberty Compact, a ten-point legislative agenda for structural reform in Texas.

Texans for Fiscal Responsibility | Executive Director

January 2023 — September 2023

Led the organization’s public-facing work: email, web, social, and video content focused on fiscal policy at the federal, state, and local levels. Co-hosted Taxpayer Talks, a weekly video and audio podcast, and helped curate the Fiscal Responsibility Index, the organization’s ratings of Texas lawmakers, for the 87th Legislative Session cycle.

Covered the Texas Capitol during the 87th Legislative Session. Published 300+ articles on legislation, floor activity, and state policy. Hosted This Week in Texas, a weekly video and audio podcast, and appeared regularly across the organization’s broader podcast and video content as an on-air correspondent.

Directed the think tank’s engagement with the Texas Legislature ahead of the 87th Session, briefing lawmakers and staff on research findings, coordinating across policy teams, and translating long-form research into usable information for the legislative process.

Managed the successful reelection campaign for James Dickey as Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas, defeating the challenger decisively at the 2018 state convention. Directed delegate strategy, convention operations, and internal communications with State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) members and party activists statewide.

Senior advisor to the lawmaker and operational head of the office during the 84th and 85th Legislative Sessions. Directed legislative strategy, oversaw communications and constituent services, managed several other legislative staff, and coordinated with committee leadership, House leadership, and West Texas stakeholders.

Ran the district-side operation of the office between the 83rd and 84th Legislative Sessions. Managed constituent correspondence and casework, maintained the district’s issue and contact database, and served as the lawmaker’s primary point of presence in West Texas between sessions.
